Welcome to our self-storage customer help page and Frequently Asked Questions.

Henfield employee lending a hand

Henfield Self Storage cares about ‘lending a hand’ to all who store their precious possessions in our units. If you don’t find the answer to your question then please get in touch by giving us a call for a friendly chat on 0800 027 7821

Who is Henfield Self Storage?

Henfield has been in business for over 12 years and is part of a family-owned  group which has been running for over 40 years. All our personal and business customers benefit from low cost storage at our bases in North & West London, South & Southwest London, Central London, East & Southeast London, Surrey, Sussex, Birmingham, Bradford and Glasgow.

Why are your self-storage prices so much lower than your competitors?

We keep our overheads low. Our storage centers are not in expensive high street locations, we don’t have a large head office and we also run a rental fleet of over 150 vehicles that allows us to offer you a free collection service.

Where are your self-storage locations?

Henfield Storage serves customers from all over London, Sussex, and Surrey, including Brighton, Guildford, Crawley, Croydon, Kingston, and other parts of North London, South London, West London and East London.

What is the minimum/maximum period for rental?

You can rent for as little as two weeks or for as long as you wish.

What do I get for my money? Are there any hidden extras?

You get a clean and secure space and only you have the key. When you receive our quote that is the price you pay. There are no ‘hidden extras.’

Do you have any discounts or promotions?

Yes.

  • All customers who store for three months or more receive a free collection service (see our collection terms and conditions).
  • Customers who prepay for three months are entitled to 5% off their storage rental on top of receiving a free collection. The discount can increase to 15% with a longer prepayment.
  • All Horsham customers receive free van hire to move in when they take out storage for a month or more.

What payment methods do you offer?

We prefer our customers to pay by direct debit; we also accept Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. You can either use your own insurance broker or we can arrange insurance for your storage unit under our own policy.

In order to ensure that your goods are fully protected, we make sure that you have insurance cover for them while they are in storage. The goods must be covered up to their full replacement value (our policy offers www-for-old replacement) by a policy which specifically covers all storage-related risks. We don’t force you to use our insurance (like some of our competitors do), but nearly all of our customers do choose to do so because our policy is really good value and specially designed for self storage. You can decide how to insure your goods on the day you move in, or feel free to call us to discuss it in advance. Read more about our Insurance Cover.

Your original policy covering your possessions must be shown on the day you move in to your unit. The policy must adequately cover your goods while in storage.

How often can I get access to my possessions?

All our facilities are open 7 days a week except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and Easter Sunday.

How much notice is required for access?

Access is available without notice within store opening hours.

Do you offer a free collection service?

Yes. When you sign up to 3 months we’ll supply a van and driver to save you time, cost and effort (see our collection terms and conditions)

Can I upgrade or downsize my storage if my circumstances change?

Yes. Free of charge!

Do you have trolleys available?

Yes.

Why use a self-storage unit when I can rent a cheap lockup?

A self-storage unit is purpose-built to withstand the damp and be secure against fire, theft and flood. All our facilities are manned, alarmed and equipped with CCTV. See 10 Reasons Henfield Self-Storage is Better Than a Lockup Garage.

Do you offer self-storage for small businesses?

Yes.

Do you offer office facilities?

No.

Do I need my own padlock?

Yes. Having your own key adds another level of security to your unit, as you are the only person with a key. You can either bring your own when you move in or buy one from our reception desk on the day.

Do you allow dogs or pets?

No. Due to Healthy and Safety Regulations we do not allow the storage of anything living nor do we allow dogs or any other animals on our premises (exception for guide dogs).
